Sluggerton Homers Twice in 8-3 Wheelers Win
|
The Anchorage Wheelers stopped the State College Swift Steeds , 8-3, at Balto Memorial Field at The Igloo. The Wheelers got a big game from Slime Sluggerton, who slugged 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Smoki Zazaki got the win, improving to 7-7. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 5 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 8 and walking 0. Greg Buse got the save, the 3rd for him this season.
In the first inning, Sluggerton had a 3-run home run for Anchorage. It was his 7th home run of the season and put the Wheelers on top, 4-1.
"I really like what we did out there today," Sluggerton said after the game.
The Wheelers improved their record to 37-40 with the win over State College.
