Anchorage Wheelers starter Jiggs Kingman pitched a strong game against the California Firehawks at Balto Memorial Field at The Igloo, leading the Wheelers to victory, 3-2. Smoki Zazaki locked down his 3rd save. The Wheelers improved their record to 34-44 by beating California.
The Wheelers got a big at-bat from first baseman Cameron Squires. For the game, Squires was 1 for 4 with a double and a walk. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 11th double of the season gave Anchorage a 3-2 lead.
"The Wheelers earned it," said California manager . "Hats off to them."
