The Amarillo Armadillos beat the California Firehawks, 6-2. Amarillo pitcher and Toronto, Canada, native Harold Smith led the way. Amarillo is now 39-40, California 40-39.

Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Brian Payne? The Amarillo catcher had a run-scoring double in the top of the first inning to put the Armadillos on top, 1-0. For the game, Payne had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
