Lumber Pounds 2 Homers in 6-3 Flamingos Win
|
The Florida Flamingos defeated the Louisville Lemurs, 6-3, in part because of center fielder Jimmy Lumber. Lumber hit 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice for the Flamingos. Florida starter Stetson Mixon was credited with the win after throwing 95 pitches over 6.2 innings. His record now stands at 9-6. Earning his 9th save for Florida was Skyler Stevens.
Lumber contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Florida in the bottom of the third. With his team trailing 2-1, Lumber took a cutter from Sofia Mondragón and stroked the home run to right. His 14th home run of the season allowed the Flamingos to leap in front, 3-2.
"I like our moxie," said Flamingos manager .
The second-place Flamingos now have a record of 46-34.
