Amarillo right-hander Takeda Takahashi helped his team edge California by the score of 3-2. Takahashi kept the opposing lineup in check. Takahashi went 5 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 3, and struck out 2. His record improves to 10-6. Chatty Johnson recorded the save for Amarillo, his 10th of the season.
Amarillo used a well-timed hit by Palin Drome to capture the win. The left fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Armadillos ahead, 3-2. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"The key at this level is throwing strike one," said Takahashi. "Successful pitchers do it."
The Armadillos lead the West Division by 4 games.
