Wheelers Roll Past Flamingos, 6-1
|
The Anchorage Wheelers beat the Florida Flamingos, 6-1. Anchorage pitcher and Victoria, Canada, native Pickle Riedemann led the way. Riedemann, now 7-5, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 4, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. Jay More was credited with the save, his 1st in 1 tries.
Hannibal Kingslayer went 1 for 3 for Anchorage. With one out and the game tied in the top of the seventh inning, Kingslayer had a clutch at-bat. Facing Florida hurler Daithi Kennedy-Senan, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Wheelers a 2-1 lead.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Kingslayer.
Anchorage occupies last place in the West Division at 34-47.
