The Chicago Kingpins had to overcome a good performance from Anchorage pitcher Ollie Damra to claim a 3-2 win at The Jose Forty-Three Stadium. Damra went 5.1 innings and allowed no runs. The win went to Remmy Rattlesnake in relief. His record improves to 3-0. Greg Buse took the loss. The 4th-place Kingpins now have a record of 41-40.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. With the game tied in the bottom of the 13th, an error by the Wheelers allowed the Kingpins to score the winning run.
During his postgame press conference, Kingpins manager told reporters that he expected a tight game from the get-go. "This had the potential to go down to the wire, and it certainly didn't disappoint," he said, later quipping, "it might've been a little less nerve-racking if I had been watching the game from my couch!"
