Late Rally by Ranas Secures 8-4 Win
|
The Puerto Rico Ranas overcame a pretty good performance by California catcher Ivagotta Dumper, beating the Firehawks, 8-4, at Kay Faraday Memorial Stadium. Dumper was 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. By defeating California, the last-place Ranas improved to 21-61.
Scoops Cunningham [BOT] went 1-3 with a triple and a walk. He scored 2 times for Puerto Rico. The 34-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring walk off Mid AtBest. It was his 18th walk of the season.
"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said Cunningham [BOT]. "You've got to get results."
