Tight Tilt Goes to Firehawks, 3-2
|
Both offenses were relatively subdued at PBE Bigger Strange Podcast Stadium: Home of the Waterpigeons. Fortunately for the California Firehawks, though, Ashton Fox was able to deliver in the clutch. He went 4-4 with a triple, 3 singles, and a walk, to lead his team past the Kansas City Hepcats, 3-2. The winner was Ingrid Keelhauler, who threw 80 pitches over 6.1 innings. The right-hander was charged with 2 runs on 5 hits. Raul Chamgerlain notched his 2nd save in 3 chances.
Ethan Voss had a big solo home run for the Firehawks in the bottom of the fifth inning. With California leading 2-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a knuckle curve from FireBob Nutting, who is tied for 4th in the MiLPBE with a 3.06 ERA, and punished it. The result was his 9th home run of the season, which put the Firehawks on top, 3-0.
Said losing manager : "We've got to find a way to push a run across."
With the victory, the Firehawks upped their record to 48-34.
