The Nashville Stars racked up a win at Cari Price Memorial Stadium, bumping off the Death Valley Scorpions, 7-4. Warren Peace, who started for Nashville, pitched effectively for his team. Nashville goes to 49-33, Death Valley to 35-47.
The game was at a stalemate until left fielder Slate Grey came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Death Valley pitcher Dennis Martinez, he hit a 1-1 knuckle curve for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Nashville on top, 5-4.
"Getting ahead of the hitters was the key," said Peace.
