Nerd's 20-Game Hit Streak Ends

The 20-game hitting streak of Detroit Demons first baseman Alpha Nerd came to an end today at Demon's Lair at Laser Park. The Seattle Sea Serpents held him hitless in 4 at-bats and also sent the Demons down to defeat, 4-3.

Later, Nerd acknowledged to BNN reporters that the hit streak meant something to him.

"It was special," he said, "but I think other people make a bigger deal out of it than I do, or the players do. It was what we're all supposed to do; go out and hit the ball and try to score runs. It was a cool deal, but it's over now. Let's try to start a new one."

This season Nerd is batting .281 with 18 home runs.
Sensational Month for Champions Rookie

Palin Drome earned July's Rookie of the Month honors in the Champions Conference for last month's performance. The boyish Nashville designated hitter might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level.

Drome hit .303 with 2 home runs, 14 RBIs and 18 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award.

This season Drome has delivered 77 hits in 281 at-bats for a .274 average with 2 home runs. He is getting on base at a .323 clip and his totals also include 29 RBIs and 39 runs scored. This year Drome has played in 73 games.
Rising Star--Twos Shines as Top Rookie

From Podunk to Paradise sounds like the story of Threes Twos of the Boise Raptors. It has been a sudden rise to fame for this first-year hurler. As of today, he is the Legends Conference Rookie of the Month.

Twos was certainly on top of his game in July. He started 0 games and threw 15.2 innings, striking out 17 and walking 2. In all, he compiled a 3-0 record with a sparkling 1.72 ERA, holding the opposition to a .237 batting average.

Twos has taken the mound for 21 relief appearances this season, nailing down 5 saves while notching a 5-4 record with a 4.14 ERA. The Boise reliever has limited opposing batters to a .289 batting average.
