Stars Get Hard-Earned Win
|
Cancun center fielder Gnome Child had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Child was 4 for 5 with 3 doubles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once, even as Nashville beat the Toros, 4-3. Zachary Vega III picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 10-3. Samuel Smoltz suffered the loss. Today's win puts Nashville at 47-36, while Cancun falls to 50-33.
J.B. Rainier came through with a big-time hit for Nashville. The right fielder smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 4-3. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Rainier told the Nashville Gazette.
