Cancun Dealt 6-3 Defeat
|
The Detroit Demons locked up a win at Demon's Lair at Laser Park, knocking off the Cancun Toros, 6-3. On the mound for Detroit was right-hander Pythagoras. He played a major role in the triumph. Pythagoras, now 6-7, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 8, walking 2, and allowing 3 runs. Thorne Belfour locked down his 14th save.
The Demons got a big at-bat from catcher Biff Slamous. For the game, Slamous went 1-2 with a double and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 17th double of the season gave Detroit a 2-1 lead.
Detroit manager was pleased with the team's effort. "It was just a good, gutsy performance by everybody," he said.
Today's win puts Detroit at 41-43, while Cancun falls to 53-31.
