Giannoulas Excels, But Apex Win
The Indianapolis Apex overcame a good performance by Death Valley first baseman Ted Giannoulas to knock off Death Valley, 12-8, at The Brickyard. Giannoulas went 3 for 3 with 2 home runs, a double, and 2 walks, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Indianapolis reliever Romeo McFlourish picked up the win to move to 2-2. Jose Forty-Three suffered the loss. The save went to Calvin Ball, his 4th this season.

Jazzy Thompson dealt the Scorpions a blow in the bottom of the first. Batting with the bases loaded and Indianapolis leading 3-2, Thompson hit a 1-1 fastball for a bases-clearing double.

"Enjoyed this one," Thompson told the Indianapolis Herald. "But it's back to work tomorrow."

With the victory, the Apex record now stands at 34-35.
