A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Vancouver Vandals and Indianapolis Apex.

Vancouver picked up a win at The Brickyard, bumping off the Indianapolis Apex, 8-4. Pitcher Holly Sheet was a major reason the Vandals emerged victorious. Sheet, now 11-2, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 9, walking 1, and allowing 4 runs.

Vancouver used a clutch at-bat from Enrique von Caliente to capture the win. The second baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Vandals ahead, 6-4. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"We came out aggressive," said Vandals manager . "We came out swinging the bats."

The Vandals, at 49-37, have a comfortable 14-game lead in their division.
