Apex Win, 8-4, Extend Streak to 5 Games
|
Indianapolis second baseman Dee Fernandez was a significant contributor in his team's 8-4 triumph over the Death Valley Scorpions. He went 3 for 5 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for Indianapolis. Luna José RodrÃguez Ortiz, who went 5 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 3 runs on 5 hits, while walking 4 and striking out 4. His record now stands at 6-8. The Apex have now won 5 straight.
The Scorpions had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Apex going into the top of the second inning. That changed quickly when the top prospect Harry Callahan came to the plate. Callahan hit a 2-run home run on a first pitch fastball from Death Valley hurler Jose Forty-Three. It was Callahan's 9th home run of the year.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Fernandez said after the game.
