Stars Drop Another One, 9-5
|
Sea Serpents first baseman Gator McGraw put his stamp on his team's 9-5 win over the Nashville Stars. McGraw was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 5 runs and scored once for Seattle in the contest. Mejiro McQueen, the winning pitcher, improved to 9-3. He pitched 7 innings, giving up 6 hits and 5 runs, while striking out 10 and walking 1. Lilo Pelekai was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 9 of 11 save opportunities.
Had Bookie Metts not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Metts hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Sea Serpents.
"We'll keep playing hard and let the chips fall where they may," said Seattle manager .
The first-place Sea Serpents have won 7 in a row.
