A 4-RBI performance from Daniel Plainview, who finished 3rd in the Champions in batting average with .311 in 2068, helped the Death Valley Scorpions beat the New Orleans Rougarous, 14-6. Guy Roussy got credit for the win, improving to 13-3. He allowed 6 runs on 8 hits in 5.2 innings. The first-place Scorpions have won 7 in a row.

With Death Valley leading 7-3 in the bottom of the third, Plainview came up to bat against New Orleans pitcher James Filtipaldi. Plainview hit a fastball to right-center for a grand slam home run. His 23rd home run of the season put the Scorpions on top, 11-3.
