The Indianapolis Apex rode a solid performance from 29-year-old starting pitcher Maurice Bernard to a win, beating the Nashville Stars, 4-0, at The Brickyard. Bernard got the win, improving to 11-5. He gave up 4 hits and walked 3 over 6 innings. He allowed no runs. Flop Quads, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 7th save.
Edward Mackinlay hit a 2-run home run off Zach Mulder in the bottom of the second, which put the Apex ahead, 2-0. In addition to the homer, Mackinlay had 1 double, while going 2 for 4.
"It wasn't a very good day at the ballpark," said Nashville manager .
With the win, Indianapolis has a record of 48-45. Nashville falls to 42-51.
