Aviators Pull Out Late Win, 4-3
|
The Buffalo Surge got a sterling performance from pitcher Lieutenant Dudz, but the Outer Banks Aviators still prevailed, 4-3. Dudz threw 6.2 innings of 4-hit ball. Goro Shigeno, credited with the win in relief, is now 3-8. He allowed no runs on no hits in 0.2 innings. The win puts Outer Banks at 54-39 this season.
The decisive blow was delivered by Kveta Vlková in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a solo home run off fireballing 6' 8" left-hander Marcus DaWorm to win the game for Outer Banks. The home crowd went nuts.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Buffalo skipper , "and it cost us."
