Vandals Tuck Away 5-1 Win Over Cancun
|
Vancouver Vandals pitcher Holly Sheet was in fine form, leading his team past the Cancun Toros, 5-1. Sheet yielded 1 run over 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 1, and struck out 5. His record improves to 12-2. The first-place Vandals have their sights set on making a deep playoff run.
Ashton Lansdell had a big 2-run home run for the Vandals in the top of the fourth inning. With Vancouver leading 2-0 and a runner on 2nd, he sized up a splitter from Pedro Martini, who is tied for 5th in the Champions in strikeouts with 167, and punished it. The result was his 9th home run of the season, which put the Vandals on top, 4-0.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Vancouver skipper .
