Scorpions Earn Late Win
|
Death Valley beat Toronto at Cari Price Memorial Stadium, eking out a 5-4 win. The win was due in large part to third baseman Xicoyotl Montalbán. He was 3 for 3 with a triple, 2 singles, and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs. Death Valley has now won 3 in a row.
The game was at a stalemate until right fielder Lawn Gnomes came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Toronto pitcher Siegmeyer of Catarina, he hit a 1-1 cutter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Death Valley on top, 5-4.
Death Valley manager commended his team for delivering "maximum effort."
