The inspired effort of Cancun shortstop Victor Cortez was not enough to prevent a loss, 7-4, to the Vancouver Vandals. Cortez went 2-3 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. With the win, the Vandals have a record of 60-35.

Vancouver took a 5-4 lead on Pierre Phillip's 13th home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which Phillip hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Cancun pitcher Jihmih Beniko visibly frustrated.

"I still think this team can play even better," Phillip told the Vancouver Daily.
