Both teams had their chances, but the Death Valley Scorpions eventually prevailed.

Led by Smalls, the Death Valley Scorpions defeated the Indianapolis Apex, 7-6. Smalls was 2-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for the Scorpions. Guy Roussy earned the win to go to 7-8. He allowed 2 runs on 5 hits, with 4 walks and 5 strikeouts in 6.1 innings of work. Ray Xavier closed the door for Death Valley, picking up his 9th save of the year.

Death Valley relied on the bat of Yvonne Escence to get the win. The center fielder ripped a run-scoring double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Scorpions ahead, 7-0. For the game, Escence had 1 double and 1 triple in 5 at-bats.

"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Smalls.

With the victory, the Scorpions upped their record to 46-38.
