Phillip, Vandals Romp Over Pathfinders, 11-0
|
Vandals right fielder Pierre Phillip left his imprint on his team's 11-0 win over the Toronto Pathfinders. Phillip went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 3 and driving in 3 for Vancouver in the contest. Thor Lore, the winning pitcher, is now 1-0. He went 7 innings, allowing no runs on 7 hits, while fanning 8 and walking 1. The win gives Vancouver a record of 1-1.
Jean-Jacques François Jacques-Jean Jr. had a big 3-run home run for the Vandals in the bottom of the second inning. With Vancouver leading 1-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he sized up a curveball from 24-year old right-handed pitcher Stetson Mixon and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Vandals on top, 4-0.
"This was one of those games you love to be a part of," said Phillip.
