Both teams had their chances, but the Death Valley Scorpions eventually prevailed.

Starting pitcher Jose Forty-Three pitched well enough to help the Death Valley Scorpions beat the Outer Banks Aviators, 5-4. Death Valley reliever Roman Melgar was the winner. His record is now 3-2. Lanky Schramm took the loss.

The game was at a stalemate until shortstop Literal Flamingo came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Outer Banks pitcher Lanky Schramm, he hit a 0-2 circle change for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Death Valley on top, 5-4.

"I tried to mix it up, keep them off balance," said Forty-Three.

The third-place Scorpions have won 5 straight games.
