Sea Serpents Pull Out Late Win, 6-5
Though he had a stellar game, Launch Angle could not prevent his team, the Death Valley Scorpions, from losing, 6-5, to the Seattle Sea Serpents. Angle belted 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Seattle reliever Kip Treadwell snagged the win, upping his record to 4-8. Bandit Keith shouldered the loss. The Sea Serpents improved their record to 54-49 by beating Death Valley.

The decisive blow was delivered by Jim Hawkins in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a run-scoring double off 31-year old left-handed pitcher Bandit Keith to win the game for Seattle. The home crowd went nuts.

"Not to put too fine a point on it," said Hawkins, "but we really needed that win."
