Vandals Pin 3-1 Loss on Toronto
|
Chuck Nasty was on the winning side of a pitcher's duel at The Thunderdome. In fact, the Vancouver Vandals left-hander was instrumental in his team's 3-1 victory over the Toronto Pathfinders. Nasty, the winner, moves to 11-8. He threw 5.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 3 walks. Vancouver raised its record to 65-40 with the win.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Vandals had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fourth, when second baseman Jean-Jacques François Jacques-Jean Jr. hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Jihmih Beniko and made the score 2-0, Vandals. Jacques-Jean Jr. was 2 for 3 with 2 singles.
Jacques-Jean Jr. attributed the win to his team's "tenacity."
