The rain did not keep Death Valley and New Orleans from finishing their game.

Death Valley Scorpions starter John Wittman hurled his team past the New Orleans Rougarous, 4-2. Picking up the save was Lanky Schramm. He's now 14 for 24 in save chances.

Death Valley used a clutch at-bat from Stelle to capture the win. The left fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Scorpions ahead, 4-1. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"Everyone's kind of edgy right now," said losing manager , "but nothing a couple of wins wouldn't cure."

Death Valley has now won 5 straight, while the Rougarous have lost 8 in a row.
