Vancouver Beats Seattle, 7-3
|
Vancouver right fielder Jerry Mander contributed to his team's 7-3 win over the Seattle Sea Serpents. Mander, who is tied for 9th in the Legends with a .302 batting average, went 3 for 5 with 3 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Vandals. Johnny Tatum, the winner, improved to 8-11. He held the Sea Serpents to 1 run on 3 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 3. Seattle now has a 5-game losing streak.
Pierre Phillip, the 23-year old left fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Phillip contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the second inning to put Vancouver up, 1-0.
"We'll sip on a cold one and savor this win," said Mander.
