Bears Need Extra Frames to Get Past Ranas
|
Steve Duke was instrumental in his team's 6-4 triumph over the Puerto Rico Ranas. The catcher went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Brew City Bears. Alejandro Abasi, now 4-2, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 3 and walking 0. With the win, Brew City pushed its record to 47-37.
Duke had a game-changing home run in the top of the tenth. On a first pitch sinker from Dr. LBG, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Bears a 6-4 lead. It was the 16th home run of the year for Duke.
"We'll savor this win," Duke told the Brew City Daily News, "then get ready for the next game."
