Swift Steeds Lose Late, 7-5
Florida took on State College in front of a lively crowd.

State College got a terrific game from designated hitter Bazooka Slow. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Florida, 7-5. Slow went 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Florida is now 51-37, while State College is 45-43.

Late in the game, second baseman Bobby Briggs had a big at-bat for Florida. In the bottom of the eighth, he hit a 2-run double off Shaq Itoff. The play gave the Flamingos a 7-5 lead.

"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Briggs.
