Fans watched the California Firehawks and the Anchorage Wheelers fight to the finish.

Behind the hitting of Kanutake MeHire, the California Firehawks stopped the Anchorage Wheelers, 10-9. MeHire went 3 for 5 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4 for the Firehawks. Picking up the save was Dusty Conkling, his 5th.

The game was all tied up in the top of the ninth, until MeHire delivered big-time for California, stroking a dramatic run-scoring single off Reed Rothchild. The game-changing hit put the Firehawks on top, 10-9.

"I'm just happy to help the team win," MeHire told the California Bulletin.

California, now 49-40, holds down third place in the West Division.
