Kansas City beat Florida at Florida Man Park, escaping with a 6-5 win. The win in large part was due to third baseman Gnome Child. He was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Definitelynot Kevinchoate got credit for the win, improving to 3-2. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. Skinster Mckinley recorded the save, making him 10 for 13.
Child had a timely hit for Kansas City in the top of the seventh. With Florida trailing 5-4, he turned a first pitch curveball into a 2-run home run. It was his 13th home run of the season, making it 6-5, Kansas City.
"We found a way to get it done," Child said.
Kansas City now sits in 4th place in the West Division at 39-51.
