Hawkins Hits 2 home runs in Flamingos Win
|
The Jose Forty-Three Stadium was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Florida Flamingos and Chicago Kingpins.
The Florida Flamingos bested the Chicago Kingpins, 6-5, at The Jose Forty-Three Stadium. Jim Hawkins was one of the standouts. He hit 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. Florida reliever Matt Kumtowski was credited with the win, to go to 9-1. Deviver Votto took the loss for Chicago.
Hawkins had a timely hit for Florida in the top of the eighth. With Chicago trailing 3-2, he turned a 1-0 fastball into a 3-run home run. It was his 16th home run of the season, making it 5-3, Florida.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Hawkins told the Florida Daily. "It's as simple as that."
