Kingpins Top Anchorage, 3-2
|
The Chicago Kingpins took Anchorage pitcher Warren Peace's best shot and still were able to claim a win at The Jose Forty-Three Stadium. The final score had Chicago getting past the Wheelers, 3-2. Peace went 6 innings and allowed 1 run, striking out 3. Chicago pitcher Leeroy Jenkins got the win, upping his record to 4-3. Highdrah Coneis got the loss. The triumph makes Chicago 33-64.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Chicago second baseman Ishmael Tejada, facing Kip Treadwell, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Kingpins the 3-2 win.
Anchorage manager said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
