Wheelers Pick Up 7-1 Win Against Amarillo
|
Anchorage Wheelers pitcher Jiggs Kingman was in top form, leading his team past the Amarillo Armadillos, 7-1. Kingman got the win, improving to 9-8. He gave up 4 hits and walked 1 over 7.2 innings. He allowed 1 run. Anchorage is now 57-40, Amarillo 45-52.
Cameron Squires had a big 2-run home run for the Wheelers in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Anchorage leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a cutter from Snack Reacher, who is tied for 4th in the MiLPBE with a 7.1 K/9 rate, and punished it. The result was his 14th home run of the season, which put the Wheelers on top, 3-0.
"We just try to have good at-bats, whether we're winning, losing, or tied," said Squires.
