5-4 Loss Extends California Losing Streak
|
The Florida Flamingos did just enough to secure a victory over the California Firehawks, 5-4, at Florida Man Park. Nobody did more than catcher Waxillium Summers. Sigandi Legend, the winner, improved to 7-4. He held California to 2 runs on 5 hits over 5.2 innings, while racking up 7 strikeouts. California has now lost 7 straight.
Summers contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Florida in the bottom of the first. With his team trailing 1-0, Summers took a slider from John Valek IV and stroked the home run to left. His 11th home run of the season allowed the Flamingos to leap in front, 2-1.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Summers said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
