Florida Hangs 7-1 Loss on Puerto Rico
|
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Florida Flamingos and Puerto Rico Ranas.
Florida picked up a win at Kay Faraday Memorial Stadium, bumping off the Puerto Rico Ranas, 7-1. Pitcher Justin Izzo was a major reason the Flamingos emerged victorious. The Flamingos lead the East Division by 9½ games.
Florida used the hitting of McScootie Fortune to pick up the win. The left fielder clubbed a grand slam home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Flamingos on top, 7-1. For the game, Fortune had 1 home run and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"It's easier to pitch when you get run support," said Izzo.
