Firehawks Need Extra Innings to Top Wheelers, 4-3
Behind the hitting of Clarke Maxx, the California Firehawks stopped the Anchorage Wheelers, 4-3, in 11 innings. Maxx went 4-6 with 4 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Firehawks. The win was credited to 21-year old left-handed pitcher Claudio Kilgannon in relief. His record improves to 6-7. Andre Pope took the loss. Mid AtBest earned the save, his 2nd in 5 tries.

Had Maxx not come through in the top of the 11th, who knows how the game would've ended? But with two down, Maxx hit a 2-run single. The Firehawks took the lead, 4-2, and never looked back.

"We didn't let this one get away," said Maxx.

The win for the Firehawks raised their record to 57-41.
