Flamingos Pick Up 4-2 Road Win Over Chicago
|
The Florida Flamingos beat the Chicago Kingpins, 4-2. Florida pitcher and Indianapolis, Indiana, native Jay Kirkpatrick led the way. Kirkpatrick picked up the win for Florida, going 7.1 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 9 hits. He now sports a record of 8-7. The triumph puts Florida at 57-41 for the season.
Jim Hawkins, the 20-year old third baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Hawkins contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the fourth inning to put Florida up, 2-1.
"We'll take some time to unwind," said Kirkpatrick, "and then get after it again."
