Wheelers Pin 10-6 Loss on California
|
Due in large part to third baseman Enrique Checo, the Anchorage Wheelers sunk the California Firehawks, 10-6. Checo went 2 for 4 with a triple and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Wham A Geddon, the winner, goes to 6-6. He allowed 5 runs on 10 hits, with 1 walk and 3 strikeouts over 6 innings. Colton Klein, credited with the save, is now 1 for 1 in save opportunities.
With Anchorage leading 1-0 in the top of the third, Checo hit a changeup from Jonny Tom for a 2-run triple. It was his 3rd triple of the season and put the Wheelers ahead, 3-0.
"You need to show up when your number's called," said Checo.
Anchorage is now 50-53, California 54-49.
