Armadillos Get Close Win Over Lemurs, 5-4
|
The Armadillos grabbed a win, 5-4, at Kenny Payne Appreciation Stadium, overcoming a fine effort from Louisville pitcher Nina Alexejeva. Alexejeva went 5 innings and allowed 3 runs. IKEA BLÅHAJ came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.2 innings. His record now stands at 6-1. Oil Can Sampson was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 6 of 7 save opportunities.
Amarillo used the timely hitting of Jed Bowal to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Armadillos on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"There's still time to turn this season around," said Bowal.
Amarillo occupies 4th place in the West Division at 48-56.
