Firehawks Top Ranas, 3-2
|
The California Firehawks picked up a win at Kay Faraday Memorial Stadium, dropping the Puerto Rico Ranas, 3-2, in 13 innings. Yong-woo Jun, who is tied for 3rd in the MiLPBE with a 3.52 ERA, was the difference-maker. Joe Callaway snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits over 2 innings. He's now 2-2 on the season. California raised its record to 64-43 with the win.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the 13th, with the game tied, Dwaal Ing was at the plate when California scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Firehawks to go in front, 3-2.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" California manager said.
