Indianapolis got a decent performance from pitcher Ichabod Kranepool, but it wasn't enough to beat the Buffalo Surge. Buffalo won the The Brickyard contest, 5-4. Kranepool threw 6.1 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. Buffalo reliever Luther MacIntosh was credited with the win, to go to 1-6. Romeo McFlourish took the loss for Indianapolis. Frigg Delling got the save, his 15th in 20 chances.

Buffalo used the timely hitting of Avada Kedavra to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Surge on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"Our team showed some gumption," said Kedavra. "I like it."

After today's action, Buffalo sits at 47-50; Indianapolis slips to 53-44.
