Fans watched the Indianapolis Apex and the Cancun Toros fight to the finish.
Calvin Ball was outstanding against Cancun. The right-hander, who is tied for 9th in the Champions with a 9.7 K/9 rate, had a circle change that was virtually unhittable at times. The result was a Apex 4-3 win. Indianapolis reliever Nathaniel Foot was the winner. His record is now 2-0. The losing pitcher was Roquefort Cotswald.
The Apex were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth when right fielder Enderman turned a 0-1 screwball from Roquefort Cotswald into a 2-run single. The walk-off single electrified the The Brickyard denizens and sent the Apex home with a thrilling 4-3 win.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Ball told the Indianapolis Chronicle.
With the win, the Apex improved to 55-47.
