The Outer Banks Aviators did just enough to sneak past the Death Valley Scorpions, 3-2, at The Island. Outer Banks pitcher Wombat Jones, in particular, had a standout performance. Outer Banks is now 9-10.

The Scorpions had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Aviators going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 2073 Rookie of the Year Award winner Rachel Morimura came to the plate. Morimura hit a 2-run double on a first pitch curveball from Death Valley hurler Always A. Bummus. It was Morimura's 4th double of the year.
