Starting pitcher Thor Lore pitched well enough to help the Vancouver Vandals beat the Indianapolis Apex, 8-3. Lore, now 2-1, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 7, walking 1, and allowing 3 runs. Indianapolis, with the loss, is still a stout 15-5.

Danny Burgers had a big 2-run home run for the Vandals in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Vancouver leading 4-3 and a runner on 2nd, he sized up a fastball from 2072 Rookie of the Year Award winner Max Lovehammer and punished it. The result was his 8th home run of the season, which put the Vandals on top, 6-3.

"The key at this level is throwing strike one," said Lore. "Successful pitchers do it."
