Tomlin Blasts Vandals, Surge Take Game 1, 8-5
The Buffalo Surge started the Conference Finals in style today, winning on the road against the Vancouver Vandals at The Scudder Forty-Three Stadium by a score of 8-5 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Surge left fielder J.C. Tomlin excelled. He went 3-3 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks, while scoring 2.

Buffalo used a well-timed hit by Dimpley Splorger to capture the win. The third baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Surge ahead, 4-2. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.

"I'm just happy to help the team win," Splorger told the Buffalo Citizen.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at The Scudder Forty-Three Stadium in Providence.
