Always A. Bummus and the Death Valley Scorpions opened the Divisional Series in brilliant fashion today, traveling to Indianapolis and shutting out the host Apex at The Brickyard 2-0 to secure an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. Bummus, the Scorpions left-hander, threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball.

Indianapolis had little success against Bummus and his changeup. Bummus tossed 102 pitches over 7 innings for the Scorpions.

"I just made my pitches," said Bummus, "and the ball kept missing the bat."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at The Brickyard in Providence.
