Metts Blasts Apex, Sea Serpents Take Game 3, 7-4
|
The Seattle Sea Serpents moved to within one game of the Conference Finals, downing the visiting Indianapolis Apex at The Aquadome by a score of 7-4. Sea Serpents first baseman Bookie Metts did some major damage. He went 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. The win gives the Sea Serpents a 2-1 advantage in the best-of-5 Divisional Series.
Kanutake MeHire, who led the Champions in wins above replacement with 6.0 in 2072, took Indianapolis hurler Dennis Martinez deep in the bottom of the sixth. His 2-run home run put the Sea Serpents on top, 2-1. In all, MeHire had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
Seattle manager was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys went out there and put good wood on the ball," he said.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at The Aquadome in Providence.
