First Round Game 1 Victory for O'Colon and Amarillo
|
The Amarillo Armadillos started the First Round in style today, downing the visiting State College Swift Steeds at The Burrow Presented by the PBE Bigger Strange Pod by a score of 4-2 to stake an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. Armadillos left-hander Barto O'Colon threw 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball.
Bill Slamsquatch chipped in for Amarillo with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the first baseman had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 2 runs scored, and 2 RBI.
O'Colon told a Amarillo Daily News reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at The Burrow Presented by the PBE Bigger Strange Pod in Providence.
