Death Valley Tops Nashville Again, 8-4
|
Riding the 3-hit performance of second baseman Bass Reeves, the Death Valley Scorpions stopped the visiting Nashville Stars, 8-4, in Game 2 of the Conference Finals today. Reeves went 3-4 with 2 doubles and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Scorpions, who now lead the best-of-7 series, 2 games to 0.
Daniel Plainview, the Death Valley catcher, contributed a 2-run single in the bottom of the sixth inning to make the score 5-3, Scorpions. For the game, Plainview went 1-5, while adding 2 RBI.
"There was a kid in the stands with a sign that said 'Death Valley Scorpions (probably) 2070 World Series Champions'," Reeves told reporters after the game. "I told him, 'Premature, but I like the confidence.'"
Game 3 is scheduled for Sunday at Gibson Soundstage in Providence.
